It’s Xavier’s
Doranda calling again. It’s been lots of planning and
works in the Jubilee year. Since the beginning of the
year, we have been genuinely involved in different
activities to commemorate the occasion and to
celebrate the fiftieth year of excellence; we have
chalked out many activities in this line. We
inaugurated the celebration with the ceremonial Holy
Mass on 30th of January 2010. His
Excellency Jean Deboutte the Ambassador of Belgium and
her Ladyship Mrs. Regy were the chief guests for the
day. His lordship Bishop Charles Soreng, the Bishop of
Hazaribagh was the main celebrant. Our Provincial Rev.
Fr. Ranjit Toppo S.J. was the guest of honour.
Surprisingly, we had a huge gathering to accompany us
in the celebration. There was a short cultural
programme preceded by the unveiling of the statue of
St. Francis Xavier in the primary section. The DOX too
had put up a short presentation on the occasion.
On 24th June 2010, there will be the
celebration of Annual Prize Distribution
followed by Inter School Co-curricular Competition
on July 8th 2010. In the Sports arena, the school
is organizing Inter School Basketball Tournament
from May 17th to 20th May 2010. Soon
thereafter, an Inter School Cricket Tournament will
follow. The months of September-October will be the
time of Cultural Fest where students will stage a one
act play by immortal dramatist Shakespeare “As You
Like It”. Besides, we will organize a Cultural
Evening. Then the month of November will witness
Annual Sports Day and finally December 2010 will have
several festive extravaganzas such as the School
Carnival, Felicitation of teachers, DOX Gathering
and Closing Ceremony of the Golden Jubilee. To add
more joy, we will soon have the Golden Jubilee Gates
erected by DOX at the entrance of the school. The
construction for the same is due to start in few days.
Meanwhile two of our students, Anirban Dutta
and Kumar Shivam of standard X accompanied by Mrs.
Bela Mohan have just returned having attended an
“International Youth Camp” held in Czech Republic from
April 10th to 19th 2010. Their experience is indeed
going to enrich us. Another group of twelve students
is getting ready to have international exposure in
Belgium in the month of June 2010. They are
being especially trained to share their life, vision,
dreams, and culture.
The completion of the syllabus has become the
latest challenge in the sweltering summer in the wake
of the order coming from D.C. that required the early
closure of the primary school and of classes VI and
VII. We are always on the lookout for better
alternatives for proper completion of the syllabus.
However, due to unavoidable circumstances we do
reschedule and rearrange the Academic and
Co-curricular Calendar of the year. Hence, we have
been conducting special classes for std. VIII to
XII. The summer vacation is due to begin from 6th June
2010.
The holiday times are good occasions for refreshment
and research. Hence, home work for students of the
primary section and topics for projects (carrying 20
marks) to the students of the senior section have been
given respectively. We have therefore insinuated among
the students that a constant disconnection from
studies over a long period of time might at times
result in disinterest towards academics. We have given
sufficient works and instructions so as to have
refreshed and more well-informed students after the
vacation.
We have also finished conducting the Board Exams
for the academic year 2009-2010. Now we are
eagerly waiting for the results which will be
tentatively declared around Third Week of May 2010.
Immediately after the declaration of results the
applications for the Plus Two Science and Commerce
streams will be issued from the school office. Our
Plus Two section since its beginning has been doing
hugely and now with the inception of Commerce we have
started aiming for higher excellence.
Recently, we finished the process for new
admissions. The admission-days are most hectic and
full of taxing experiences. There are pressures from
all sorts of people of different ranks and status. The
school undergoes difficult times as there are some
form bureaucracy and political arena who constantly
fail to understand our moral bindings. However, we
kept our calm and Diplomatically Pulled through
these violent tides as ever.
So, this is what we have been facing and
undergoing recently. Do join us in all our endeavors
and keep us afloat to enliven the spirit of
Ignition Pedagogy.
